What is in your pantry/fridge right now? (and no that isn't my pantry - oh how I wish it was)
These are all the delights that I keep in my fridge/pantry so I don’t have to stress over whether I have what I need to bake with – that and there are always those ‘stand by’ recipes that we go to every.single.time – usually because they are the ‘no fail’ variety that you can do in your sleep (mine are Vanilla Cupcakes, Red Velvet Cupcakes, Chocolate Cake, Self Saucing Puddings)
• Plain Flour
• Baking Powder
• Baking Soda
• Butter (salted and unsalted)
• Buttermilk
• SR Flour
• Chocolate (baking squares, chips, cocoa powder, etc.)
• Coconut
• Cornstarch
• Cream Cheese
• Cream of Tartar – playdough!!
• Eggs
• Extracts (primarily vanilla extract but could also have almond, lemon, peppermint, etc.)
• Custard Powder
• Lemon Juice
• Milk (fresh or powdered)
• Non-Stick Spray
• Nuts (almonds, pecans, walnuts, etc.)
• Rolled Oats
• Salt
• Sour Cream
• Spices (allspice, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, etc.)
• Sugars (granulated, brown, caster)
• Vegetable Oil/Olive Oil
• Yeast (active dry or rapid rise)
• Golden syrup
Egg substitute - 1 egg = 2 tablespoon water, 1 tablespoon oil, 2 teaspoon baking powder
DIY Buttermilk - mix 1Cup Milk with 1 Tablespoon Citric Acid (either lemon juice or vinegar) and leaving to stand for a few minutes
Do a quick little inventory BEFORE you go shopping - you'll be surprised what you already have there :)
