First in our hot seat, our founder.....
Sam
Age: 32 years - She thinks, (some days she feels 90!)
- Where do you sleep at night? ( in other words, where do you live?) Ambarvale
- On and average night how many table settings do you place?? ( In other words how many do you cook for?? ) Well that's a trick question really.....Monday and Friday we have one extra so that's 3 adults/4 squids, Saturday can see anywhere upto 10 extras, Sunday can see an extra adult as well - honestly I don't know how many I am cooking for until about 3pm in the afternoon, nothing is set in concrete in our house and I love it.
- Whats your familys favourite meal? We're easy - I love webers though, I think it's part cave person reliving experience/part no inside dishes/part walk away from food
- Are there any food allergies in your family? Nope - none at all thank goodness.
- What is a cooking hassle for you? At the moment due to my awesome oven (and I know a tradeswoman NEVER blames her tools) profiteroles and sponges just don't happen - even my mum, who makes awesome ones, cannot get it to work in my oven.
- Name 1 thing you just CANNOT cook? Hmmmm...well I'll try anything once so honestly I don't know - it mightn't always turn out but I'll give it a bash :) Do I get bonus points for not having killed anyone yet?
- What is one product you swear by and why? Non slip mixing bowls - a must have when you do as much baking and chocolate work as I do
- Do you have a favourite celebrity chef? If so.. Who and Why? Celebrity wise - no, I don't have a favourite. My 'favourite' is my mother and her mother before her - two women who have the ability to make a meal from pretty well nothing that tastes like it's made with ingredients costing a million dollars.
- Name something that ALWAYS goes out of date before you use it? Cream of Tartar - I really need to learn to make more playdough.
- When did you learn to cook? And how? I think I was around 9, it was out of necessity - mum worked and I would come home after school and start the dinner prep - all basic stuff, nothing overly complicated til I started home ec in high school when I was 12.
- Whats in the 3rd drawer of your kitchen? A hell of a lot of crap - isn't everyone's??
- What was the last thing you ate? My dinner....given my lack of iron at the moment it's red meat/leafy greens and mushrooms all the way baby - steamed pumpkin, steamed carrot, steamed peas, steamed baby spinach, mashed potato (with skin on), steamed corn, beef with mushies and red onion - to be followed by fresh rockmelon/pineapple and oranges.
- Did you enjoy it?? Most definently - quick, simple and gave me more than half of the RDI of Iron (18mg for non pregnant/non lactating women) in one meal.
- When was the last time you cleaned your fridge.. properly?? ( None of this jsut throwing out old food stuff!!) Last weekend - generally it's once a month, more if there is leakage
- What is the best thing that has ever happened to you? Now this is a tough one - one could go with the cliche meeting my husband, getting married, having children and ALL of these things are fantastic without a doubt - but I like to believe in the old saying that the best is yet to come, which means there is some amazing things coming my way.
- What is your proudest accomplishment and why? Being Anti-Depressant free after 524 days - there have been some god awful horrendous days in those 524 days, but I have made it through with the support and love of a select group of friends and family - without them I dread to think where I would be.
- Your on your way to the electric chair.. What crime did you commit and what is your last meal going to be? Chances are I've killed someone - as for meal, at that point I wouldn't care and would probably go with Vegemite on toast.
- If you could have superpower what would it be and why? (She left this blank! Then told me later she was awesome and didnt need any!!)
- Do you have an special abilites? I am awesome - ask me I'll tell you. In all seriousness no special talents here - fairly boring I'm afraid - unless being able to talk the leg off a chair counts as a talent?
- Tell us what your favourite thing about being a Mamabaker is? Just one thing? Meeting the amazing bunch of women that I have that until now wouldn't have had exposure to, creating a support network that I know in time we will all be able to draw strength from when we hit speedbumps in the road, being able to talk to women that 'get it' (it being isolation/loneliness/repetition of day to day).
So there you are girlies! You just met your first Mama!
Sending lotsa Love and Light
