Well it is *meant* to be Autumn, so the start of all things warming and filling of the belly - but alas Mother Nature didn't quite get the memo on that one somehow (though it seems atm with the destruction in the world she has her panties in a right royal bunch so probably for the best to not point out any errors in weather patterns me thinks).
But I don't need cold weather to be an excuse to have a Roast - be it in the weber (I LOVE weber food - minimal mess, minimal effort required - and I think it satisifies some inner caveperson instincts of flames and food) or under a BBQ hood it all tastes great to me :)
Whilst the husband person slept (poor little soul is a little run down with working a truckload of hours in a short period of time and sporting a broken tooth) I loaded up the squidlets and off we toddled to the local supermarket to gather groceries for the coming week.
Despite having a MamaBake session on thursday I forgot to allow for my mother in law possibly joining us this week - so needed to gather provisions for feasting - and this week we are feasting on Roast Chicken with Vegetables (potato bake, corn, roast carrot and pumpkin, broccoli and peas) and gravy.
And this is my 'Chicken' - though I'm wondering how many steroids it was fed prior to being slaughtered because it's a monster - so big in fact it didn't fit into the Maggi 'Cook In A Bag' Garlic flavoured bag (I use breast pieces or a whole chicken as opposed to drumsticks etc - just a personal preference) - so it's currently in my large rectangle pyrex dish with oil and the Garlic flavouring on top.
Poor little chicken - weighs as much as Isabelle did when she was born (2.42kg).
So between this and Karen's mega awesome spag bol (seriously that stuff is GREAT!) I'll be keeping vampires away for days :)
