Ok so we DON'T have bayonets - but we have wooden spoons, and in the MamaBake world that will do just dandy.

What does MamaBake mean to YOU?

I was pondering this earlier today as one does at a child's birthday party - I was discussing MamaBake with one of the other parent's present (side note - I think we need business cards.....) and it came to me that the possibilities for MamaBake are limited only by yourself....

1. Obvious Community Building
2. Peer Support
3. Child-minding swapping - because you become comfortable around each other/in each other's space
4. Nutritional diversity
5. Social interaction for those that may not have otherwise had it
6. Exposure to a wider cross section of your community

Now I feel a little like Alice in Wonderland ('Sometimes my Father dreamed of six impossible things before breakfast') - but these are NOT impossible dreams - they are real, they are tangible, they are within our grasp.

Ok that got a little preachy there and for that I do apologise - however - I will NOT apologise for being passionate, I will NOT apologise for being like a dog with a bone - this is something I believe in, something I personally NEED - and that it is why I am so passionate, because I know I need it in my life - I need all of these things and more.

We are part of a Revolution - the sisters are coming out from behind the kitchen door, we are harking back to the days of our foremothers, we are armed with power and knowledge and we have such an ability to do so much good in our community - we can make some monumental positive changes in individuals lives, in turn enriching our own.

You may not think you have much to give, but believe me when I say for those that are experiencing Mental Health Issues, Domestic Violence (be it Physical/Emotional or Financial), Substance Abuse, Sexual Assault, reliving Childhood Trauma - just having someone to lean on and carry the load for a few steps makes so much of a difference.

So the question is - what does MamaBake mean to you?
