And off we go on a brand new adventure :)
Well here we go on our new adventures - today marks the beginning of a new 'start' of sorts for us.
To enable us to expand and grow as we are right now - we will be changing our name - suggestions more than welcome :) This will give us the capacity to become an Inc Body, a NFP or (which is the route I'm hoping for and you'll see why in a minute) Auspiced.
Why the name change? At this point in time the MamaBake Group has 'outgrown' for a want of a better word it's original roots - we have evolved and grown beyond anyone's wildest imaginations, by changing our name we will be able to continue on the path we have set. In saying this - the principles of MamaBake remain in place.
So - why would I like us auspiced? More to the point - what does that mean? Basically it means an accreditated group will 'pick us up' so to speak under their umbrella. We are accountable to them but it will enable us to apply for grants and funds via them - makes life a million times easier when you start reading about how to become an Inc Body or a NFP I will freely admit.
And here are the other pieces of news....excuse me for doing dot points but the brain isn't firing on all cylinders right now - I'd guess barely eating for the last 5 days would do that to you.
1. Change of name - this involves changing the FB group name, forum name, email address, promo material, material currently with WorkVentures and Dept of Housing, and this blog address.
2. Tallowood - I have handed over Tallowood to Lauren - I simply do not have the time to build the relationship required there. I will still be attending but for my own personal reasons I need some space and time and to be able to say some weeks I cannot attend.
3. The other reason for relinquishing Tallowood - which I had hoped to keep under wraps until I had confirmation. As some of you know I am doing some volunteer work with the Benevolent Society. As a part of that work the group I am with has funding, funding that we can allocate to existing programmes if they meet requirements for our desired outcomes - but of course that becomes a massive conflict of interest if I have any direct relationship with the space. Now I need to stress this ISN'T confirmed at all, and is an idea we are currently kicking around BUT to obtain this funding we need to be either an Inc Body/NFP or Auspiced.
4. Auspicing - I have approached several established NFP to auspice us - basically because as an Inc body we are all liable (jointly and individually) in the event anything occurs - I don't know about anyone else but at this stage in my life I don't feel so comfortable with that (see here for details of how to form an Inc Assoc in NSW)
5. Claymore - the Claymore project is bigger than even I imagined. This is being seen as a 'pilot programme' - if the rollout is successful there is the view to roll it out through the other four community estates in Campbelltown, with the success of that roll out then meaning potentially statewide roll out.
So there you go - that's the changes that are coming. Some will be massive, some will be smaller but ALL of them will be done with consultation of the whole group. I might be the bunny toddling to meetings/spending hours on the phone but end of the day anyone could be doing this - if you have an idea you think will benefit the group run with it :)
